So you'd like to join us? Great news! At local level adult help ranges from a unit helper who may prepare craft materials, assist the girls as necessary and help clear up afterwards, through to a Unit Leader who is responsible for the welfare of the unit members as well as delivering the Girlguiding programme. Although this may sound daunting, like many other tasks a little familiarity soon brings a relaxed approach, with the adults enjoying the evenings as much as the young people (sometimes more!)
Try getting involved with our 12-hour challenge. Give up 12 hours of your time to help a unit in your local area. You could handle the accounts, help out at weekly meetings or share your interests with Guiding members.
If you are looking to give up a bit more of your time, consider becoming a Leader or Assistant Leader. Not only does it look great on your CV, but you'll have the knowledge that you are helping the next generation of girls to become confident young women.
Full training and mentoring is given at all stages, and the friendly District team will help and encourage whenever needed.
And if you're not keen to get so formally involved at Unit level, there's the Trefoild Guild whose members support Girlguiding, and a whole raft of tasks from fixing up the unit meeting place to helping with transport etc.
Contact us, giving details of your postcode, and we'll put you in touch with a group near you.
