for swaps, and we also sell the County lion,the Epsom Division badge;and the County Centenary badge. Badge sales are handled
by Girlguiding Stoneleigh District on our behalf, and
you can buy by credit card (min
£2.00 order please) quickly and easily - they
aim to dispatch within hours rather than days. Make
your selection here and the total (including 75p UK
postage) will be shown before you enter the payment

The badge issued to commemorate the Girlguiding Centenary celebrations in 2009/2010 and launched in Surrey East at Lingfield on 5th September 2009.
The design is by Jennifer Peach of Fusion Rangers, Reigate Division and comprises a smiling lion holding onto a 100th Birthday balloon representing our Surrey Lion, on top of a trefoil in yellow (Brownies), blue (Guides), aqua (Senior Section) and red (Trefoil Guild), on a background of Rainbow blue.

Originally
the Division had six Districts. The Oak leaf represents Oxted; the Cedar Tree is Caterham-on-the-Hill; the building is The Cage at Lingfield; the train is Caterham Valley; the horseshoe & leather bottle is Warlingham (names of twopubs); and the other symbol is Tilburstow.

The Leith Hill Division Standard was created in 2009 to celebrate the centenary of Girlguiding. It features the tower on Leith Hill as well as a bonfire to represent Dorking Downs District (including Brockham), bricks to represent Dorking Weald District and the local brickworks, and a Dorking cockerel to represent Dorking Leas District.

The District symbols show: Engine, Redhill as a railway town, Pilgrim, as the Pilgrims Way runs through Reigate Hill, Coat of Arms of the de Warenne family of Reigate Priory, the M25/M25 interchange of Merstham, the Church of Horley West, and the Stage Coach of Horley East on the London/Brighton stage coach route

Details of the County Standard

This is a clear standard with some interesting symbolism.
The hoist is divided per
pale (vertically) Azure a trefoil Or for Guiding, Or
a lion passant guardant Gules armed and langued Azure,
the County badge of Surrey. The lion derives from the
Arms of Eleanor of Castille, wife of Edward 1 and so
was contained in the Arms of their grand-daughter Joan
de Barre who married in 1306 John de Warenne, Earl of
Surrey.
The Motto band in the livery
colours of the Movement, Azure lettered Or.
The fly, divided by three
bars dancetty Azure, Argent, Azure with seven points
representing the Seven Hills of Surrey - Box, Colley,
Juniper, Leith, Pebble, Reigate and White.
In chief
a swan Proper for Leatherhead from the town coat of
arms showing the strong links with London; (Leatherhead
Division)
a castle gateway Proper, between the bases of the towers
REI Gules meaning water, from the town coat of arms;
(Reigate Division)
a horse Sable from Epsom showing links with the Derby
which is run on Epsom Downs (Epsom Division)
In base
on a mound Vert a tower Proper representing the tower
build on Leith Hill, the highest point in South East
England; (Leith Hill Division)
a woolsack Proper representing sheep rearing and wool
production in Banstead which provided the wool for the
first Woolsack used in the House of Lords; (Banstead
Division - now Downs Heath Division)
behind a churn
a wheatstalk and shepherds crook Proper in saltire for
the predominant occupations in the area. (Godstone Division)
The border is a twisted
cord in the livery colours of the Movement.
Issue 1 was produced with a dark blue background
Issue 2 of 500 badges was introduced on 1 November 2004
with a red background and overlocking
