Indian Elephant who never forgets her Promise

You will need:

  • 4 pint plastic milk bottle for the adult elephant
  • 2 pint plastic milk bottle for the baby elephant
  • Felt for saddle
  • Tissue paper torn into 50 pence size pieces
  • Bright coloured sequins, stickers, threads to embelish saddle
  • PVA

Tools:

  • Crimping shears (optional)
  • Sharp scissors to cut the plastic bottle
  • Sewing needles
  • Glue dobbers

To Make:

  • Print these instructions/template
  • Cut a 4 pint plastic milk bottle in half widthways at the bottom of the handle to create the elephant body (fig 1)
  • Cut 2 semi circles each side to create the legs
  • Cut a 'V' at the back of the elephant, to create a tail
  • Tear tissue paper pieces and glue to the elephant making sure you cover all the plastic
  • The glue will dry clear, like varnish, so make sure all the tissue paper pieces are securely stuck
  • While your elephant is drying, you can create the saddle:
    • Using the template, cut out a saddle
    • Decorate your saddle with sequins, gems, stitches, stickers
  • Spray the milk bottle lid gold. If you don’t have a lid, stretch a piece of tissue paper over the spout of the bottle and glue
  • Either draw or fix eyes
  • Cut out and decorate your Promise (on the template file). Roll and fasten with decorative thread. Pop your Promise under your elephant’s trunk
