You
will need
- Flower paste
- white vegetable fat
- cornflower
- florist's wire
- florist's tape
- stamens
- powder colours
Making the centre of the flower
1. Take a small piece of flower paste and make a small
ball on the end of a piece of florist's wire that has
the end bent over. Let it dry.
2. The end of the ball can also be flattened. This is
useful for daisy-like flowers.
Making the flower
1. Take a pea-sized piece of flower paste and work until soft. To prevent it sticking, use a smear of white fat on your fingers.
2. When it is soft, roll it out to a small thin circle on a non-stick surface. You can use a tiny bit of cornflour to stop it sticking.
3. With your chosen cutter, cut out the petals.
4. Take a cocktail stick and roll it along the edge of the petals to thin and frill them. Use a ball tool to curve the petals.
5. Carefully lift the petals and insert the bottom end of the florist's wire through the centre of the petals. Using a tiny bit of egg white, stick the petals to the centre of the flower.
6. Leave to dry.
Colouring the flowers
Use a very small amount of powder colour on a small dry brush and dust the edges and centre of the petals.
