Rainbows are either 5 or 6 years old. Keen and eager to enjoy themselves, your local Rainbow unit is the ideal place for your daughter to join in the fun of Girlguiding with her new-found school friends, and some new friends too!
Brownies are either between 7 and 10 years old. Over a quarter of all females were Brownies when they were younger, and this is still a very popular section of Girlguiding. Teamwork is developed, as well as individual skills, and the annual Pack Holiday that many units arrange is often the first time many of the young people have been away from home and family for a few days.
Guides are between 10 and 14 years old, and by now the emphasis is on individual development whist still retaining the small groups essential to teamwork skills.
Rangers are aged between 14½ and 25. By now the young people have strongly developed identities and run their own programmes and events, although still under the watchful eye of an adult Leader. Ranger groups tend to cover a larger area than the younger sections.
And of course, don't forget that none of these opportunities for the young people would be possible without our teams of adult volunteers - there's quite possibly various opportunities for you in your own local area if you'd like to join the team
