A small children's zoo that is much better since it was taken over by new management in 2009. Reached from Battersea Park station, change at Clapham Junction from Southern or SW Trains. Turn right as you leave the station, then right again at the traffic lights. Then either walk across Battersea Park (entrance off the roundabout ahead of you) or catch the 137 bus a stop or two up to Chelsea Bridge, then walk left into park and the zoo is about 400 metres on the left - our Brownies much prefer the bus as they don't seem to travel that way normally!
We chose to have a guided tour which also included the use of the education room for lunch. A tour is a really good idea; not only are the staff very knowledgeable and helpful, but all the animals know them and come out when called. We also had opportunities to hold various animals which the general public can't.
If you want to spend time in Battersea Park itself there's the adventure playground, boats on the lake, the Peace Pagoda, rent a cycle and lots of space.
Normal rates are £6.50 adult, £4.95 child but pre-booked groups of between 15 and 30 pay £5.00 with one adult free per 5 children, and a personal guide etc. Contact the zoo on 0845 601 6679 or use the form on their website.
