Joanne was presented with the Guiding Hero Award and Thanks badge in recognition of her continued enthusiasm and dedication to Guiding as leader of 3rd Merstham Rainbows and assistant leader 10th Redhill Brownies, despite her own health battles over the last two years.  Jo is admired for her courage and determination as the mainstay for both units zoom meetings, and then face to face as soon as we were able.  She even continued to work on her units’ admin and organise meetings whilst waiting for appointments, to ensure the Rainbows and Brownies had yet another exciting and fun meeting.  She is an inspirational leader.

The award was presented by Beverly Heywood-Jones, Surrey East County Commissioner and Emma Marsh, Joint Reigate Division Commissioner joined by her remarkable family who are also in Guiding and the local District Commissioner Karen Shepherd.
