Huge congratulations to the incredible Debbie on achieving her prestigious Queen’s Guide Award!
Having joined Girlguiding as an adult volunteer, Debbie was looking for a new challenge – and she didn’t hold back. For her personal challenge, she took up powerlifting and went on to win a competition. For her Guiding challenge, she led an international trip, supporting 12 girls across Laser to fundraise and Inter-rail across Europe. And for her community action challenge, she supported YMCA East Surrey in their fundraising for a new youth minibus – finishing that journey by climbing Ben Nevis alongside them!
From smashing a powerlifting competition, to conquering Ben Nevis, to empowering young members in Guiding, Debbie has truly found her heart in Girlguiding. She’s shown strength, passion, and dedication every step of the way.
Her award was presented at the County Volunteers Together day where she thanked those who had supported her, particularly Janet Rumble, her mentor, county queens guide adviser, Alex Lorenz and her division commissioner, Sue Corrance. What an inspiration – who knows what Debbie will take on next?
