Thank you to everyone who attended the tea party at the Oxted Guide hut on Sunday 12 July, an event to thank the fabulous volunteers in Godstone division and mark the end of Sue Corrance’s 3-year term as Division commissioner. While she would love to continue, she is stepping down to focus on managing her business. Sue wanted to thank everyone who volunteers in Godstone division for your support, particularly from Lorna, assistant division commissioner and treasurer and her dedicated District Commissioners: Catherine, Tracey, Carole, Nicola, and Claire. Godstone division should be very proud of all they do supporting 546 young members across 39 active units.

At the event, Sue was awarded the county good service award from Beverly Heywood-Jones, county commissioner. Sue took on the role in February 2023, following her leadership as district commissioner for Caterham Hill during the challenges of Covid.
Beyond her local division, Sue has also served as a dedicated county trustee, actively advocating for the Godstone community in regional discussions and decisions and is a valued member of the county team. She has led the division through major milestones, local events, and changes:
- Events: Championed national and county events including the King’s Coronation, Leaders’ Weekends, Scram, Revels, and Musigals and a wonderful Caterham Hill district celebration marking 30 years of Janette Ralph’s service
- Media & promotion: Promoted Guiding locally, including a fantastic radio interview that revealed her background as a music-loving biker girl!
- Local adjustments: Successfully managed the complex legal return of the Warlingham Guide barn to the diocese, and restructuring local Trefoil Guilds into the Reigate Guild
- Change: Supported division volunteers through some of the more sensitive changes, including the sale of activity centres and changes to the EDI policy.
As we look to the future, Sue’s tenure reminds us to cherish our community, share our skills, and welcome new volunteers who will become tomorrow’s leaders. Beverly thanked Sue for her excellent service and is pleased that Sue will continue to support Guiding in Godstone.

Going Away With Award
At the event, Dawn Bourne was awarded her GAW license from Sue having completed a successful camp at Park Farm. Congratulations to Dawn and thank you to everyone who supported her.
